these stupid love bugs are EVERYWHERE!!

They're driving me insane. They're everywhere. I came home today from school and saw a huge black cloud of them above the duplex. Stupid bugs.

Sorry 'bout that... stupid bugs need to go away. Anyway, I've gone to the first two days of classes, and everything seems to be pretty good. Yesterday I had history and organic chemistry lab. My history professor seems to be really funny and nice, and my lab TA is pretty cool too. Today I went to organic chem. lecture, anthropology, and music. I think it's really good that I have music last because I think I'm really going to enjoy that class. My teacher is also trying really hard to learn all our names which gives the class more of a close feeling.

I'm going to attempt to go to judo tonight so we'll see how that goes. Thus, I'm off for now. Have a great rest of the week, peoples.

Back in College Station

Well, sorry it's been about a week since I last updated, but I'll catch you up. Don't worry.

Ok, so last Monday and Tuesday were the last 2 days I babysat the chillins, and overall, I had a pretty good time doing it. I spent most of Tuesday cleaning the house so when my aunt and uncle came home, they could just relax and tell stories of their vacation.

Wednesday I got to go to the Rangers game with Jeff, his parents, Chris H., and Brett W. So much fun. $1 dollar hotdogs, umpires and coaches fighting about 30 feet away, and the last hit of the game barely missing a win for the Rangers by 10 feet. Very exciting.

Thursday I got a call from Cameron asking if I'd like to come to the ranch and go horsebackriding. Ok, is there any doubt that I said no? I didn't think so. Anyway, so I went out there, went seedoo-ing, horsebackriding, and movie watching. It was a good weekend. The only annoying part about it was that I lost my wallet when I went out riding on Friday, so I was a bit irritated after that. Thankfully, I'm slowly getting everything back together as far as wallet stuff goes.

Friday night and Saturday were devoted solely to Jeff stuff. We went to see Napoleon Dynomite, went out to dinner several times, had a goodbye lunch to send Brett Wallace off to college, and just had a good time being with eachother. He surprised me with a picture of himself that I'd been asking for for... well, forever. And then we went out to get a frame for it.

Sunday morning we had an engagement party for Matt and Cameron at Amore with about 50 adults plus Jeff, Brittany, Luke, Matt, and Cam. So needless to say, us chillins were sticking together. Then I went back home with Jeff to get my stuff packed up and spend a bit more time with the boyfriend before I had to leave. Tears were shed, goodbyes were said, and I was off to College Station again. So now, I'm in my first week of school and trying to get into the groove of things again. The first 2 days of school update will occur tomorrow, but for now, I'm going to spend some quality time with my bed and the t.v.

Better understanding of what my mom goes through...

So I have a much better understanding as to what my wonderful mother goes through every day. I've been babysitting 4 of my cousins for about 3 1/2 days now, and I am SO tired.

I came over to their house around 2 on Thursday afternoon, and immediately went off to pick Mary (the youngest who is in 2nd grade). I brought her back home, and then we said goodbye to my Aunt and Uncle as they went on their way to beautiful Mexico. The other kids came home, and I made chicken spaghetti for dinner. Friday morning I took the two middle kids (Joy, 6th grade and Sarah, 8th grade) to the middle school, and Mary to her elementary school. I then went back over to my house to say hello to my parents and join them for a bit of coffee. Cameron came over for a bit of DDR, and then we headed over to Peggy Sue for some lunch. After we got home from lunch and a dessert from Doughmonkey, we got a call from Mary saying that she had a huge headache. We drove over to the school, picked her up, gave her children's tylinol, and had her take a nap. All the other kids trickled in from school, and we eventually sat down to a dinner of chicken enchiladas, chips and salsa. Johnny (the eldest of 10th grade) was at a slumber party that night, so I didn't get to see much of him. He told me later on that he didn't get to bed until 5 AM, and he needed to be up by about 6:30 AM for the band car wash on Saturday morning. Ouch.

Saturday I took the girls to the car wash and had a fun time getting to chat with Johnny and all my younger band friends. We went back home and had a declared "quiet hour" because Mary was being a bit chatty. Thankfully, Mary was "fashionably late" with her quiet hour, and what was one hour turned into 2 1/2. Excellent. I ordered pizza for dinner, and Jeff came over and joined us. We went to blockbuster to use a coupon that the girls had earned for reading a certain number of books, and we rented this movie called "The beautitian and the beast". Worst... movie... ever. But, we couldn't really find anything "Mary appropriate". Oh well. We all had a good laugh after that. After the movie, everyone but me and Sarah had gone to bed and Jeff left, so Sarah and I had a good bonding time. I didn't end up getting to bed until 1 AM or so, but it was well worth getting to spend time with my cuz.

So now it's Sunday, and we went to church this morning, met up with my family for lunch at Wendy's, and now we're having a good 'ol homework afternoon. Johnny apparently just finished, because he's been playing on his guitar pretty loudly for the past 30 minutes or so. And now I need to go figure out what we're having for dinner. I think it's going to be a spaghetti night. So after Tuesday I'll have the last half of my babysitting job to report.

This past weekend

Well, it's been a while since I updated, so I'll get you all caught up on the happenings of this last weekend:

Friday afternoon Jeff, Cameron and I went out to eat at Amore while we waited for Matt to come home. When he did, we headed out to the mini ranch for Cameron's graduation celebration. When we got there, we were greeted by Murphy watching the opening ceremonies for the olympics. We eventually found everyone else at a friend's lakehouse down the street where we chatted for a bit, and then Matt, Cam, Jeff and I went back to the ranch to wait for Leslie and Bryan to join us. We played a bit of DDR and then went to bed.

Saturday was an awesome day packed with greeting guests, a picnic lunch, tubing, seedoo-ing, DDR-ing, a bbq dinner, a bonfire, feeding the cows some "cow candy", and then poker and more DDRage. Ahh, what fun we had. I really can't express how much fun that was... especially right after getting done with summer school.

Sunday we basically just woke up, had some awesome french toast made by Mrs. Hall, cleaned up a bit, and headed back to Dallas. After we got home, dad made all of us some great grilled cheeses and then we were off on our seperate ways. I got a bit of a nap in, and then went to dinner with Jeff and his mom to Mi Cosina. With our stomachs full, we walked over to the movie theater to see The Manchurian Candidate, which I really enjoyed.

And that was basically the end of our wonderful weekend. I highly support the making of another weekend like that... (hint hint) Anyway, off to enjoy the rest of my week, as well as babysit a couple of awesome kids (aka my 4 cousins) for about 5 days. I'll update more on that later on.

THE END!

AAHHHH. The end is finally here. I took my test this morning, and I'm officially done with biology 114. Good times, good times. I did so much today too. I came home after my test, helped Cameron and Mr. Hall with her stuff that she was moving out, ate lunch with the two of them, and then got to work on my own room. I moved all of my stuff into my new room and organized in about 2 hours. Then Cameron and I ordered chinese food and became couch potatoes for a while. :)

After all that, we decided it was time for some good 'ol DDR-ing. We ended up getting quite a few A's that we had B's on before. After that it was time to call it a night, take our showers, and go to bed. And that's exactly what I'm about to do. So I will update more on the happenings in my 2 week summer later.

EEEK!

So it's finally here: in less than 24 hours, I will officially be done with summer school. Awesome. The only obstacle in my way at this point is the looming final tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too painful. For now, I'm going to study my butt off.

A big congrats is in order for Cameron: yay for the awesome grade on your final!! Hooray!

Sore calf muscles

I'm not neglecting my blog. I promise. I'm merely preoccupied by a little thing called my biology final. I'm done with that Wednesday morning at 12:30, so after that I will be able to blog more thoroughly.

So this weekend was pretty fun. Matt came down on Friday night, and unfortunately I had to study. I studied all day Saturday until Cameron and Matt came home with their new game: Dance Dance Revolution. Best game ever. So I played that for a little bit on Saturday, and then Sunday Cameron had an idea. We would study for about an hour/hour and a half at a time, and then get about an hour of playing DDR. SO much fun. And now my calves hurt. :( As Cameron said in her blog- stairs are not the most fun thing to hike down at this point.

Today I went to my last biology lecture EVER!! HOORAY! Now I just have to study these last 2 days, and I will be all set for my final. And then I get to move into my new room (Cameron's old room) and head home! Cameron and I had lunch at the MSC today after class... kind of a celebratory "last lecture of the summer (for me)/ever (for Cameron)".

So yes. That's about all for now. I'll update as soon as I'm done with my final. Until then...

Announcement:

If you would like to see pictures of the "Post-it Room", please refer to Cameron's blog :) She has the wonderful world of overt.org that allows her to post pictures (compliments of Leslie).

Post-it notes and chicken vertebrae...

So 2 very interesting things have happened to me today:

1. Cameron and I had been trying to figure out what this message to herself on her wipe off board meant: PNER. We knew it stood for something, but we couldn't figure it out... Well, at least Cameron claimed that she didn't know what it meant. When I got home from class this morning, I definitely figured it out. Post-it Note Em's Room. PNER. Yes, that's right. I have a variety of colors around my room, engulfing my bed, a smiley face design on my closet door, and even some on my teddy bears. I have a very large "WHOOP" on my floor, and an '05 on my bed. Cameron has dubbed it her "senior prank". :)

2. Liz alerted me that the disposal was not working properly, and that I should investigate. So that's what I did. I remembered Matt telling me about a restart button under the sink, which I pushed, and it still wasn't working. I called both my Dad and Matt hoping for some advice, but the only thing Matt came up with was that there was probably something just jammed in there. So I decided to get down to business and explore inside the sink. Now, keep in mind that I DO NOT like putting my hand down the sink into the world of the unknown. But I toughed it out, and with Cameron's magenta colored rubber gloves, I went to work. After much exploring and about 5 minutes, I had pulled out 4 chicken vertebrae. Yes, vertebrae. Weird. Apparently Gigi had put her excess chicken scraps down the drain. But after pulling those bones out, the disposal was much happier. It made a grinding noise of gratitude, and I went on my way.

If that story wasn't weird enough for you: we were just discussing chordates with vertebrae in class today. Ah the irony.

We have an obsessive stalker...

This might seem a bit strange to blog about, but it's REALLY irritating:

Liz subscribed to a local newspaper and apparently got some sort of discount special for it. As it is almost time to re-subscribe or something, this lady has been calling AT LEAST 1-2 times a DAY for Liz. She's been doing this since Tuesday, and it's getting really old really fast. The first 1-2 times, I figured I'd just let the lady leave a message on our machine... if it was important, she'd leave a message. But no, no message. And she just kept calling. So last night, Cameron decided to pick up and tell the lady when Liz would be getting back: "Thursday night", with the emphasis on NIGHT. Well, so far, the lady has called 3 more times today alone, once at around 4, once at 6:30, and once at 7:30. This is getting ridiculous. So this last time she called, I told her that Liz would call her back when she thought it was convenient. The excuse this lady gave me was this: "Well, I'm sitting at my friend's desk in the office, so she can't call my number." So I told her I had caller ID, and that Liz would call that specific number back, and to please not call anymore. Seriously, can this woman take a hint?!? NO MORE CALLING! SHE'S NOT HERE. Honestly.

Well, ok, anyway, back to studying biology. Just needed to get that off my chest. I feel much better now. :)

Kingdoms and phyla and classes, oh my!

So I guess when I start titling my blogs with mixtures of The Wizard of Oz and biology put together, you know that I've officially been studying way too much. But I have my final in less than a week, so I want to be very prepared. I just wish that I were at home enjoying my summer at this point, but no can do. I must go on... I must... study... more...

Anyway... update on the roommate situation: Liz decided to leave on Tuesday to drive back home, and she decided to not tell any of us. She did, however, leave a brief message Tuesday night explaining where she was. I don't agree with the way she's handling this, but I guess she just needed some time to vent and think things over. Maybe she really will take things seriously and start compromising. (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, refer to my last post.)

Well, goodness. I've basically run out of things to say. I need to start packing my stuff up to get it into my new bedroom (Cameron's current one), and I'm freaking out about my final. But everything will be ok after another 6 days. So if any of you feel like I'm becoming scarce, it's only because I'm obsessing about my grades. Not to worry. I will emerge from my cave of intense study soon.

I went to my test this morning, and needless to say, I had a slight skip to my step as I walked back to my car afterwards. I'm so happy that's over, and I think I did pretty well too (which is a great, great way to finish a test).

After lunch, I was pretty worthless and made the most of my "relaxing day"... theeeen came the "duplex meeting" that Cameron and I had been planning for a while. Though our intentions were to plan out a rotation schedule for chores, we also had other plans. Cameron graciously volunteered to bring up some issues that we had been annoyed with... mostly pertaining to Liz. Ok, who am I kidding? They were all pertaining to Liz. Cameron basically approached her with some issues like respect, cleaning, loudness, etc. It was good that she got all these issues out in the open, so when she does them again, Gigi and I can stop it immediately. After Cameron was finished, I was going to add in a couple of comments, but Liz was given a chance to speak her mind before anyone else spoke. She simply said she'd take Cameron's comments into consideration, but said she had to eat and go to work (even though she was leaving 30 minutes earlier than she said she had to). She then went into her room, got her things for work, took her pan of food fresh from the oven, and left with her dinner.

I waited a while before I did this, but earlier I had decided to go up to Barnes and Noble to meet Liz for her break, so maybe she could talk to me about some of the things she was thinking. When I got there, all she said was, "I took my break 5 minutes before you got here, so I can't talk right now." She made eye contact maybe once, and after getting my coffee, I said I'd just see her at home. And now we have a relieved 3 roommates, and 1 really pissed one. The moral of this story is: don't wait to talk to your roommates until annoyances pile up.

Nuff said about this situation. It will sort out soon hopefully. Until the next blog...

finger biting and slowly beginning to talk to myself...

As this weekend draws to a close, I realize the harsh reality that my third biology 114 test is creeping steadily towards me. Not only am I not happy about this fact, but I'm also beginning to think I know absolutely nothing that I've been studying. And my test is tomorrow!!! I think I just need to calm myself down. Thus, the blog update. Clearing my head should do the trick...

To catch you loyal viewers up on the weekend happenings, Friday was a mess: class in the morning, lunch, studying, more studying with a friend, biology review, then back home. Then the fun started when Jeff got here. :) We did lots of talking/catching up, t.v. watching, and then we figured it was a rough day, so we'd call it a night.

Saturday we had lunch at the duplex, watched Emperor's New Groove, and went to Barnes and Noble to visit Liz and get some coffee. We also went over to Best Buy just to walk around and drool over the electronics they have there. (aren't you proud, Cameron?) Then we decided it would be nice to go out to dinner, so we headed over to Black Eyed Pea (yummy). After a while, Arjun, Matt, his friend Charlie, and Adela came over to play poker and watch movies. That was lots of fun, and we were able to introduce Adela to Super Troopers because she's never seen it before.

This morning Jeff and I went out for lunch, came back to the duplex, packed Jeff's stuff into his car, and he left around 1:30. :( Sad. Then I dug right into my studies from about 1:30 to 5 or so. I was able to chat with Cameron for a bit to catch up on her weekend happenings, and then it was off to the grocery store, cooked dinner, and more studying. And now here I am. Taking a bit of a study break so I will be fresh for another couple of hours of studying before my head hits my pillow. But I guess I've spent enough time on this blog, so I'd better be off to study a bit more. I'll have a very happy blog tomorrow due to my being done with this test! HOORAY!
