So, you wanna hear about my 7 hour trip to College Station?
Well, I'll tell you about it. I was driving down I45 towards College Station when I heard a funny noise coming from my tires. I thought it could have been a weird cement area, but about 2 minutes later, I felt (and heard) a loud pop and realized that my tire had blown. I frantically pulled over to the shoulder while screaming my head off and definitely being as hysterical as possible. I called my mom and dad, and dad told me to call roadside assistance. Meanwhile, Dad started out to find me on the road.
The roadside people said that they had called a tow truck company near where I was, and they were on their way. Minutes later the tow people called saying they didn't have anyone available. Well, crap. So I called the roadside people AGAIN. 30 minutes later and no call from them saying they had a tow, I called back to check on the status of my call. They told me there was no one in my area that could help me, and the only thing to do is to call the "non-emergency police" and they could pick me up but wouldn't be able to do anything with my car. By that time, dad had just pulled up behind me, so I just said I'd call them back. Dad heard about the lack of help and decided to call back and have a stern talk with the supervisor. I seriously agree with my Dad when he told them it was "unacceptable for them to provide such poor assistance". Go Dad!
Well, after lots of calls and some coaxing, the tow guy (his name was Jeff) came and graceously brought along with him a used tire that was just McSpeedy's size. Dad and I decided that after all that, we needed to go get some dinner and decide whether McSpeedy could make it all the way to College Station. We stopped at Dairy Queen in Fairfield and felt that it would be best if Dad drove behind me the rest of the way back to the duplex. Can you figure out who my hero is? If you can't, you're either legally blind, illiterate, or just crazy.
Anyway, now I'm finding a body shop so my poor car can be beautified and have a well deserved makeover. I'm also getting new tires so I hopefully never have another day like that again. Here are a couple of pictures of my poor McSpeedy:
the tire treds that did all the damage :(
the hole where my left turn blinker used to be...
McSpeedy is either peeing because he's scared, or it might be something much worse...
